Supercell/EGOIST Members’ Faces

Supercell is quite popular and well known among the Anime and Japanese Music industry. It first gained famed when its creator, Ryo, posted several of his music videos, featuring Hatsune Miku, to Nico Nico Douga which gained millions of views and went viral in Japan. After the initial success of the Hatsune Miku Album, Ryo released several albums that featured several other human singers: Yanagi-nagi, Chelly, and Koeda; and he even formed a side band based from the anime, Guilty Crown, called EGOIST, which only featured Chelly as the singer. Despite Supercell’s fame and popularity, fans never really knew what the members of the band look like and what’s their real names. Well, fear not, as I am going to reveal to you Supercell fans out there, the faces of Supercell/EGOIST members.

Ryo

Believe it or not, this is ryo’s actual face. I can assure you that this is his true face and there’s a proof below

Booklet 02 (1).jpg

This is the booklet for the My Dearest Album. Ryo’s name is clearly stated on the Music Video Staff section on the rightmost part of the booklet. It was stated that Ryo was the one who played the piano on the music video.

He can also be heard talking and showing some of his studio equipments in this video:

Yanagi-nagi

Yanagi-nagi is now a solo singer, and was no longer part of supercell. She sang quite a few notable anime opening songs, like Tokohana from Black Bullet. I’ve read an article about an interview of her, and the article stated that, when she was asked what she felt about Ryo, she said that Ryo treated her too strictly and was just like a discipline music teacher. Hmm, probably might be a reason on why she left.

Koeda

I’m not sure whether koeda is still with supercell or not, but she had just recently formed a small band and likes to post her selfies on her twitter. Supercell members usually wouldn’t just post the photos of their faces on the internet, but as for koeda, there’s a probability that she left without announcing or ryo just doesn’t bother to use her as supercell’s main singer.

Chelly

Chelly almost never reveals her full face, but this picture might be a hint on how she actually looks like…

A thread from myanimelist claimed that this picture was uploaded by chelly herself on her twitter account, but was eventually deleted by her within a few minutes.

By the way, Chelly is my favorite singer among the other singers. Personally, i liked her the best, because i think her voice is very powerful and energetic, especially when she sang Psycho Pass EDs (Namae no Nai Kaibutsu, Fallen).

Hatsune Miku Expo 2014 in Indonesia

May 29th, 2014

Today is the best day ever because I went to Hatsune Miku Expo 2014 in Indonesia  event. The event was held at Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) and it included 3 live concerts and also an exhibition that features things related to Hatsune Miku and Crypton Vocaloids.

I departed to JCC from my home at 9.39 AM and arrived there at around 10 AM. When I arrived there, I was shocked because there are already a horde of people lining up even though it’s still early and the doors to the venue were just opened. After that, I went to the ticket counter, located outside of the venue, to redeem my concert ticket. There are 4 types of concert ticket: Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze, and each of their prices varies, with Platinum being the most expensive (Rp.1,390,000 or around $120). The ticket that I bought was a Gold one and it was the second most expensive ticket (Rp. 1,000,000), next to Platinum. I bought the Gold concert ticket because I’ve heard that the Silver and Bronze tickets were based on a free-standing and “First Come, First Serve” seating, and I wanted to get a clear view of Miku and also wanted to sit. Besides that, I purchase a Gold instead of Platinum ticket because I saw a seating arrangement chart which locates Gold seats near with Platinum seats, although Gold has way larger section than Platinum. So, after seeing that, I felt that adding Rp. 390,000 will not make much differences. But too bad I got a ticket that places me at the end of the Gold section!!

I think this was caused by me ordering the ticket just 2 weeks before the concert and not knowing that the seating was based on the date and time of ticket purchase?!    -_-

* My ticket was for the 2nd show which starts at 1 PM

After I’ve redeemed my concert ticket, I went to queue for entering the venue and it was very long. There are so many people and most of them were like cutting each other’s line in order to get in to the venue first. But after a while I’ve heard the ushers at the venue door saying that ticket holders will be prioritized first than people without ticket, especially Platinum and Gold ones. Because of this, I got to enter the venue faster, as well as several other people. ^_^

When I got in, I saw many things such as a booth about Miku’s History, Making a Miku Origami, Miku Cards and Games, Gallery about Miku and other Crypton Vocaloids, and many more. I also took many pictures of the items there and there were also some cosplayers which dresses as Miku, Rin, as well as other Crypton Vocaloids. After taking pictures, I then went to a shop for buying merchandises. There I bought several things such as a pamphlet about the concert, 2 glow-sticks, several pin/badges that has a picture of Miku and other Vocaloids in it, and also a Sakura Miku Nendoroid. Besides that, I was also planning to buy a Miku V3 Software because I really wanted to try it for composing songs. But too bad the store doesn’t sells it and they only bring a sample unit with them.

After buying goods, I then went inside to the concert hall, and like what I’ve said before, I got a seat at the end of the Gold section. Although this might be annoying, I still can see Miku quite clear from there. After a while, the concert then started and many people started cheering and waving their glow-sticks like lunatics, which I also did. The concert started with a cool introduction and here’s the song set list for the concert:

  1. Senbozakura
  2. Kocchi Muite Baby
  3. Marginal
  4. Love Colored Ward
  5. Colorful x Melody
  6. Fire Flower

-=Last song=-

  • Letter Song

In the middle of the concert, Miku suddenly spoke in Indonesian and this shocked me and other audiences, and it was very KAWAII! After that, she said that she would sing a song called Venus di Ujung Jari, which was in Indonesian. The song was very nice and this really impressed many people because it’s rare to hear Miku speaking or singing in Indonesian.

After that, the concert continued with more songs until the Encore time. During that time, the band members went to the backstage or stopped performing and this made me and other audiences shout the word ENCORE to the band members so that they would perform an encore or additional song for the concert. And after a while, the band members then re-appeared and started performing again. This is also similar to what the Japanese fans did in Mikupa concerts.

As a closing, Miku sang Letter Song and it was quite sad and touching. After she’s done singing, she then wave her hands to the audiences as a sign of goodbye and many peoples wave their hands back too. And after a while, Miku gradually fade away and this closed the concert. I think the concert was like a shortened version of Mikupa Kansai with 1 different song (Venus di Ujung Jari), But it’s still cool anyway.

Then the concert was done, everyone went outside, and at the exit of the concert hall the staffs gave me and other audiences a poster with a Miku picture illustrated by Kei, for free. The poster was also a high quality one and this made me very happy. After that, I went outside of the venue and go home.
